Oh, toy organization. It’s so much fun isn’t it? {wink, wink} And it is always in a constant state of change due to the arrival of new toys for birthdays, Christmas, etc., and ever increasing maturity {hopefully!} of our children.
I love having cute and functional storage spaces for our things. Appearance {for moms} and labeling/easy access {for kids} make toy clean-up and organization achievable. I think it’s SO much easier to put things where they belong if it looks nice and it’s clearly labeled.
Kids are much more apt to put things in their place if they are labeled and easily accessible.
I’ve collected some great storage and organizational ideas to inspire you in the toy organization department. I love these great ideas for corralling toys in practical yet adorable storage solutions.

How could you not love this? This is an excellent example of attractive and very practical toy storage from The Land of Nod. I’m not being paid to highlight this idea, I just love the inspiration it brings! The bins are so colorful and make the whole unit look great. The only thing I would add are labels. 😉

Stuffed animals can TAKE OVER and this is one of the cutest ideas I’ve ever seen to organize them! This blog, Veetje, is in a foreign language and there is no tutorial, but I’m pretty sure those of you who are handy or have handy hubbies could figure out how to make this.
Cory Connor Designs has such an adorable idea for keeping books organized that’s stylish and functional using a wagon for book storage. I’m not sure how long our books would stay in that order {probably not very long!}, but it sure is a great idea for keeping books attractively organized and accessible in a room that isn’t the kids’ primary playroom.
Isn’t this a great way to keep books neat and easy to grab? Domestic Simplicity used Ikea spice racks to corral books.
Isn’t this such a great idea? I just love it! I love containerizing small pieces and labeling them so kids can learn to be responsible and put them away when they are finished playing. Heart of Wisdom offers this great idea using a coffee canister AND she has the free printable labels to go along with them! Woot woot!
I think this up-cycled dresser turned dress-up clothes organizer is amazing! We always kept our dress-up dresses in a bin, but they never fared very well being all smushed up. I love this cute idea from A Turtle’s Life for Me. She inspired me to upcycle an old piece of furniture we have into an American Girl clothes organizer. I’ll keep you posted when I get around to that project! 😉
This is a must-do on my list for the spring. I can’t stand the outside toys being strewn all over the place. The balls we have take up so much room in our outdoor toy box, so I am really looking forward to putting this great idea into action! Thanks to Designed to Dwell for the idea.
Do not ask me how they did it, but my in-laws have kept most of the board games that my husband and his siblings played with as children, and they are all intact – boxes and all. Is it just me or is cardboard flimsier than it used to be? I don’t know about your games, but my kiddos’ game boxes have an extremely short life span. Sometimes they barely make it through the present opening – especially puzzle boxes. Talk about cheap-o! Anyway, I love this idea from Meck Mom. There is nothing like containerizing little pieces! I love how she cut out the game title and taped it on the plastic lids.

Just wanted to let you know the boxes from Jazzie and Tahlia are from IKEA. They are not expensive and very durable. They survived quite a few years in my Kindergarten class. They can be found in the children’s section.

My two girls share the same room and they have TONS of stuffed animals (that I love and wish to keep) most from build a bear workshop but i dont know how to store/display them.

Paula, you asked this question at a perfect time. I just saw the cutest idea for storing stuffed animals. You can see it on Come Together Kids. She got the idea from Pink and Green Mama. She used a bean bag chair cover to stash all the animals. It makes for a comfy seat for kids and keeps all the animals out of sight, but easily accessible.
This comment might be outdated now, but I also have two girls who share a room and have been thinking up storage ideas. For cute stuffed animals or dolls that you wouldn’t mind having for display you could do a long wall shelf.
Many home improvement stores likes Lowes or Home Depot have several style options and what I like about this idea is that as they grow the items on the shelf can be changed out to fit their “grown-up” personalities. I put the shelf high up for display purposes, but it can also be put lower so that the kids can still play with the objects.
I think I’ll steal about all of these ideas Ginny – awesome! I think the wagon with the books is something we have been looking for that we can put together right away. We’re also interested in ideas for storing big, clunky, ugly toys too. We have been battling the “where the heck are we going to put THIS toy?” syndrome lately – mostly Grandma & Grandpa’s fault!
